ShireCon 2025 is on this weekend

 

ShireCon is on again for 2025. ShireCon is an annual tabletop gaming convention run by the Sutherland Shire Gamers. Now in its third year, if I remember correctly, it's becoming bigger with each year. Sutherland Shire Gamers run the excellent MOAB convention every year and ShireCon is certainly becoming a second success for them on the gaming calendar.

This year, Slave2Gaming is in attendance with a small selection from their shop. Slave2Gaming has some excellent 15mm sci-fi miniatures for Ma.K 15mm that I use for other games, such as Gruntz15mm and Starship Troopers. This ShireCon, the Slave2Gaming team have brought their Ma.K 15mm sci-fi range and these are masterful sculpts.

Apart from the plethora of 40K and Warhammer Fantasy games, there were some others that caught my eye.

For a couple of years now, Slave2Gaming have been running Ma.K 15mm gaming convention where the rules for the game get play tested out. You can find out more here. That will be on again for the 14th June.

Broadside - Empires of Steel

Broadside is a new WW1 Dreadnaught era game using 3D printed battleships. The scale is a little too large for my tastes. But below is something more in my style that was exciting to see.

10mm Warmaster Ogre army, 3d printed

I believe it was Dave I was talking too who owned this excellently painted 3d printed Ogre Kingdoms army. But there were about three tables upstairs that were set up ready for Warmaster with one of the guys I talked to fielding a Dwarf army. The games hadn't been set up as yet, but the tables were set with terrain. So, I only got a photo of the Ogre army. This is fantastic to see that this game is making a comeback with the Warmaster Revolution ruleset and being kept alive by a dedicated fanbase. Looks like I'm going to have to dust off my 10mm armies and brush up on the updated ruleset.

This will probably come back for MOAB and so I might think about joining in. It's been years since I played a game of this, my most favourite wargame. So, you just never know.

Anyway, it's on tomorrow as well. So, if you get a chance, stop by. There is also a Bring-n-Buy area that was being well patronised.

Warmaster Mercenary Ogres ready for battle

 

My hoard of Warmaster Mercenary Ogres is finally completed and on the battle field!

These are the latest recruits to the Ogre Merc's.

One final unit of Bull Ogre Warriors.

A Butcher (Wizard) with walking food pantry and halfling cook assistants.

A Bruiser (Hero) to assist command on the field.

And the Ogre Tyrant (General) for the mercenary band.

Ready for battle. I can feel a battle report coming soon.

Grim Dark D20 Player Characters

Here's two characters from our new Grim Dark D20 campaign. On the left is Valkalyn, a Dark elf sorcerer who has escaped to the (Warhammer) Old World and who masquerades as a High elf among the humans. On the right is Grug, a Red Ogre warrior-for-hire NPC who has attached himself to the group and has pulled their butts out of the fire on more than one occasion.

This miniature is a D&D Nolzur's Marvelous Miniatures female Paladin and no matter how hard I have tried (three flipping times!!!) I still haven't been able to get the eye's right. :(

Grug is a Mantic Games, Kings of War, Ogre. I really like these Ogres. Mantic Games have done a great job with them. Must get some more sometime.

Ok enough said. Time to get on with more painting.

Next up is the Hill Giant, and if that is funded Black Gate will be adding stuff that they were going to wait for a 3rd Kickstarter to produce. Namely beasties like the diminutive Greenlings. So this Kickstarter may indeed end up covering two Kickstarters.

This one continues the development of their 10mm Ogre Kingdoms line with the inclusion of Mammoth Riders. The Kickstarter can be found here.

Funded within the first two hours, the Kickstarter is now well into its stretch goals. Some of the current stretch goals include Ogre Chieftains, an Ogre Shaman both on Mammoths and also on foot. Still yet to be unlocked are the Yeti's. Which I can't wait to see.

Black Gate Miniatures - 10mm Ogre Kingdoms Kickstarter Reward has arrived!

Its a bit remiss of me but I have had these lads for about a month now but haven't posted about it. My bad!

If you troll this blog you will remember that I backed the 10mm Ogre Kingdoms Kickstarter. Well the lads arrived and here are a few shots of them compared to the GW Ogres from Warmaster.

Things are moving along nicely with the filling of this Kickstarter. So hope to show off more of the excellent work of Black Gate Miniatures and my Kickstarter reward as well in the coming months.

Project update on the 10mm Ogre Kickstarter by Black Gate Miniatures

Well 2017 is here and it’s high time I posted my first post for the year. I recently received an update on the 10mmOgre Kickstarter by Black Gate Miniatures. So what better way to kick off this year's posts but with a nod to my favourite gaming scale, 10mm!

With Christmas and New Year finished it is time for things to start moving forwards with the sculpting.

Robi has sculpted three more of the Warriors and reckons he will have the rest of miniatures for the Warriors, Armoured Warriors and Cannoneers done by the end of January.

Here is the first glimpse of the new Ogres, with the Kickstarter Warrior in the middle.

This project is looking great and I can't wait to see the how they turn out in the end. Its a great privilege to be able to support talented sculptors who make wonderful miniatures.
