Within the RobCo Vault - Fallout d20 rpg

My poor blog has been suffering from serious neglect over the last few months. Work and life have just kept things too busy to get some serious painting in. Consequently, I have a stack of unfinished paintjobs that needs my attention and no spare time to do them. As such, there's not much to show off on the blog.

So, I have decided to just start showing off the unfinished stuff anyway.

This post shows off the excellent BP Laser Corridor Set, which you can find here. This is a very cool and easy to build set of MDF terrain at a great price. I highly recommend it.

My rpg group have been playing my home-grown Fallout d20 game for a little while now and are really enjoying the mayhem. Below you can see where they finally ventured into the RobCo Vault under the ruined factory they explored the last time we were able to get play. Their mission was to find some robot schematics so that they could build more of a specialised robot type. They worked their way through some corridors and the odd auto turret before they came across the reactor room, which you can see below. I left the back wall off so that the players had a better view of things.

Unfortunately, they were surprised by four Security Bots that proceeded to shoot up the place. The PC's lost their Protectron very quickly as it was reduced to scrap before exploding, and they had to dive for cover.

Bullets then flew thick and fast, and a number hit the reactor causing it to start to leak radiation and to begin to suffer serious damage. The players soon realised that if this persisted there would be a rather nasty nuclear explosion. They were able to dispatch the last of the Security Bots and get out before things turned unliveable from the radiation leakage.

Continuing their search, they found the medical lab where they discovered dissected bodies and body parts scattered around the place. But what freaked the PC's out the most was the cyborg that was held in some kind of status chamber. They decided not to take any risks and placed a number of land mines around the door to the medical lab before the high tailed it out of there.

Finally, they ventured to the end of the facility where they found the control room. Here they encountered a number of Servitor Bots beavering away at consuls overwatched by two Hoverbots and a Brain-in-a-jar style Cyborg. The Cyborg was passing a report back to its leader via radio transmission announcing that the cybernation experiments on live humans was finally successful when the PC's arrived.

Cyborg wasn't happy with the intrusion and ordered his Servitor Bots to attack whilst he beat a hasty retreat with his two side-kick Hoverbots. Not waiting to ask questions, the lads opened fire and were met with electrical discharges from the Servitor Bots. More ducking for cover and return fire ensued.

"Deal with them, my minions, whilst I run away!"

"Kill. All. Intruders..."

"Exit, stage right! Actually, that's my left. Exit, stage left!"

A couple of grenades tossed into the control room eventually dealt with the Servitor Bots and the lads were able to find the one consul still functional after those explosions, retrieve the data, and escape via the Cyborg's secret exit hatch. And all before the reactor finally when boom. Timers are a real incentive to keep the players moving.

All in all, it was a simple, but fun, adventure.

Raston Warrior Robots

These come from Black Tree Design Miniatures.

Simple and sweet. Just a heavy dry brush of Gun Metal over a Chaos Black base. The heads are done with Silver. Easy! I did bend the arm of one of them to differentiate between the miniatures so that it looks like its pointing its hand weapon.

Cyberteam Charlie and the Black Dalek 2.0

I finished my first team of Cybermen from the Earthshock era, the Cyber Newmorph's. Please welcome Cyberteam Charlie...

Cyberleader and Cyberlieutenant discuss world domination

A new ear Cyberman from Warlord Games "Exterminate" joins Cyberteam Charlie

You can see above that the Warlord Games Cyberman mounted on its base is a similar height to the Black Tree Design miniatures Cybermen mounted on their bases. So they fit well together.

I wasn't happy with how my Black Dalek turned out and so decided to give him some highlights in dark grey and paint the sucker arm in gun metal. I've also repainted the base of the model.

Enter Black Dalek 2.0, stage right!

Onward to otherworldly domination!

Cyber Command

The first of my Cybermen have been finished. These lads are from the Exterminate game but will be used in the Doctor Who Miniatures Game (DWMG).

Cyber Lieutenant

Cyber Lieutenants are the primary battle field commanders and are the most well known Cyber command unit encountered on the field of battle. Cyber Lieutenants have the Leader I special ability permitting them to activate an extra miniature for free during their turn.

Any invasion force of Cybermen will always have a single commander. Cyber Commanders are most easily distinguished by their black heads. Usually commanding their forces in battle from a forward command post or their base, Cyber Commanders coordinate multiple Cyber Lieutenants across the battle zone.

Cyber Commanders have the Leader II special ability giving them then the capability to activate two extra miniatures in their turn. In the DWMG you can activate half the number of miniatures you have on the table during your turn. If you activate a model with a Leader ability, that model can activate a number of extra models for free depending upon their Leader ability. So this makes fielding at least one leader in your force a must.

Cyber Scouts

Cyber Scouts are not the next "social justice" push on the Boy Scouts of American by SJW's but an elite unit of the Cybermen.

Cyber Scouts are rarely seen on the battlefield with at most only one in six Cybermen being augmented for this type of operation. Often darker in colour these Scouts may even be painted in camouflage colours native to the world they are invading.

These Cybermen have complex electronic countermeasures which give them a Deep Strike capability in the Doctor Who Miniatures Game. This means that after all other models have been deployed on the table, the Cyber Scouts are placed last anywhere out of sight of an opposing model before the game commences. This gives the Cybermen a tactical advantage as they can easily counter any flanking moves or be placed close to objective points.

In order to compensate for this advantage the opposing player gets 1 point of Luck (mostly used for dice re-rolls) for each Cyber Scout used in the game. These Luck points can be given to any model of the opposing side.

Painting them was very simple. I just undercoated them in a Chaos Black Spray and once dry, then dry brushed them in a blue-grey paint colour. Their chest units were painted with an Ice Blue. Simple and very quick to paint.

Something new is coming!

Whilst I work on my Chaos Wars project, another project looms on the horizon...

Nasty little creepy crawlies!
