Battletech Clan Mechs for Alpha Strike

The first three Clan Mechs from the Battletech Alpha Strike starter box are now done. Two of these Mechs feature in the first of the two scenarios from that starter box.

From left to right, you have the Pouncer, the Fire Moth, and the Nova. The Pouncer and Nova feature in the first scenario. But as I am painting the smallest mechs first, I also painted the Fire Moth model as well.

The Alpha Strike box has the Northwind Highlanders face off against mechs from Clan Jade Falcon. However, I wasn't too enamoured with the colour scheme for Clan Jade Falcon. So, I decided on a paint scheme I liked more. As a newb to Battletech I have absolutely no idea what clan colour scheme this may belong to, if it belongs to any at all. So, I guess I'll randomly pick a Clan and say these mechs are from that clan. Battletech purists may have mild heart failure about that, but I prefer a good paint scheme and can sandwich in the rest afterwards.

The Fire Moth

The Pouncer

The Nova. All guns and fists, baby!

Expect a battle report sometime soonish. As soon as I can get a game in between all the painting of minis for our roleplaying ground. Ah for some real spare time. :)

Battletech Inner Sphere Mechs for Alpha Strike

Ever late to the party, I picked up the Battletech Alpha Strike starter's box the other day. I have always be curious about Battletech, however it seemed to me to be a very cumbersome ruleset and basically aimed at single mech vs single mech (unless you want to play a game that lasts for a month!).

Alpha Strike very much changes all that and it intrigued me enough to make the plunge and buy the Quick-start rules box. Plus, it's got a lot of very nice mechs. And who doesn't love really big robots?

My Inner Sphere Northwind Highlanders Lance for the first scenario.

From left to right, the Mechs are the Phoenix Hawk, the Locust, the Blackjack and the Wasp.

Painting was easy enough. I base coated the minis in Chaos Black spray. I then used a dark green spray followed by a zenith spray of a lighter green. I then dry brushed the mini's in Goblin Green, painted the exposed metal a boltgun metal colour and the windows were done in gold. I then applied the St Andrew's Cross flag to each of them to show they are from the Northwind Highlanders. I also washed the mini's in Agrax Earthshade. Once dry, I carefully rebased them onto clear hexagonal bases.

The Wasp

The Blackjack

Now for their opponents. And all the other miniatures from the Alpha-Strike Starter Box.

An Eyebot for Fallout Wasteland Warfare and RPG's

Slowly getting the small paintjobs out of the way. This one is the Eyebot from the Fallout Wasteland Warfare range of miniatures. This guy will feature as part of an Enclave recon team that the player characters will encounter in our next home-grown Fallout d20 RPG game. So here's a few more photo's of this simple model to paint.

Roberto, the stabby, stabby robot

Roberto

You may remember this lad from Futurama. I need a new foil for one of the player characters in our homegrown Fallout d20 roleplaying game. The players character being a Benderbot. So, what could be more natural as a foil than good old stabby bot himself, Roberto. This lad is from Armorcast Miniatures and is the same miniature manufacturer where I purchase the Benderbot some years ago. So here he is.

On to the next project...

Roadkill Faction for Gaslands - part 2

Here's the newest addition to my Roadkill faction for Gaslands. Again, inspired by the Mad Max - Fury Road movie and Xbox game, this vehicle holds more punch than its compatriots. It's another Hot-Wheels car, this one is meant to look meaner than its two friends.

The mine-layer at the back comes from the Friends-of-Gaslands weapons sprue and the roller-ram at the front is from an Ork vehicle from the Epic 40k game by GW.

The spikes are just two toothpicks, trimmed to size, and superglued to the wheel arches of the vehicle.

I was going to add a yellow inner flame to the red flame, but it just looked cooler the way it did. So I've left it as is.

MDF Shipping Containers from TTCombat

These containers (I currently have three assembled and painted) are very nice MDF models from TTCombat. You can find them on their website as Intermodal Containers and are pretty easy to assemble. The doors can be set to be able to open as required or be sealed shut.

They are 28mm in scale but are useful for Gaslands. I'm currently using them for both Gaslands and for my homegrown Post-Apocalyptic d20 roleplaying game. Hence the rusted paint job.

Roadkill Faction for Gaslands

In a nod to the Max Max Fury Road Xbox game, I decided to create a few factions for use in Gaslands. The first one will be the Roadkill faction. This mob is basically a loose affiliation of savage hoons who can be found on any road within the game. So here are the first two vehicles for that faction.

These are Matchbox 1933 Ford Coupe's with fuel tanks added to their boots (like in the Xbox game), and with some additions to make them souped up (e.g. exhaust). I repainted them as a bright colour to make them stand out on the table.

The rams on the front of each vehicle are plastic weapon ends from GW's line of The Hobbit: Goblin Town Goblins axes. I had cut these off the goblin model for another purpose and found that they made nice little nasty rams for these vehicles.

Now on the more heavy hitting vehicle for this faction.
