Ichtar and Scibus

To remind us of how good Doctor Who once was before the atrocity that happened over the last couple of years, I have been painting up some of my Black Tree Design classic Doctor Who minis.

So here are Ichtar and Scibus, the Silurian's from the Fifth Doctor's time on screen.

Sentry Androids

 Sentry Androids now painted.

These guys are 28mm sentry androids from Black Tree Miniatures. They are known as Sharez Jek Androids from their classic Doctor Who range.

I've painted up twelve of the blighters, all the same paint scheme. These will join my Blakes 7 Federation Security Troops for the Doctor Who Miniatures Game and 7TV games.

The Emperor Dalek is finally painted!

So way back in April 2019 I posted about how I made an Emperor Dalek from Terry Nations 1978 Dalek Annual. This Christmas I decided to finally paint the blighter!

Took long enough but its finally done.

Though never making it to screen, this blighter is regarded as part of cannon given that it appeared in a Dalek annual.

And so will appear in a Doctor Who Miniatures Game somewhere down the road.

Given the atrocity that is showing on the BBC these days I thought I would remind you, dear reader, of the proud, long, and true history of real Doctor Who.

Paint Rack from eBay

I have been looking around for some time for a decent paint rack that I could use to store my paints for easy access. To date I haven't had much luck. Then it hit me that perhaps either a spice rack or nail polish rack would fit the bill. Trolling eBay I came across these:

Its a nail paint wall rack make of wood and is available on eBay if you search around for it. It stands at over 70cm's in height, over 50 cm's in length and is 5cm's wide.

It easily holds citadel paints, including the larger wash bottles, as well as Reaper and Army Painter paint bottles, as you can see from the images below.

I get about sixteen Citadel paint bottles per shelf. So each rack holds around 96 paint bottles. As I bought two off eBay, that equals a total of 192 paint bottles. More that I currently have.

The price was around AUD$50 and they are solidly built. They come with hangers on the back to hang off a picture hook. I easily removed these as I wanted them flush against the wall at the back of my painting table.

What it won't hold can be seen below. The Tamiya paint bottle is just too wide to fit in the shelf and the other paints... well they speak for themselves.

Good buy and highly recommended.

T'roll in the New Year, here is a Mantic Troll

 See what I did there...

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

This lad is a Mantic Games (Kings of War) Troll. He's been sitting around, half painted, for over a year now and it was high time that I finished him. The Christmas holiday break has given me the much needed time to catch up on the outstanding painting jobs that needed doing. He was one of them!

His tiny legs are too small to hold his bulk. But who cares. Its a fantastic fantasy miniature and I just had to have one.

I imagine that this fella moves much like a chimpanzee or gorilla. Swinging his body on his huge muscular arms along the ground. As such, that's how I will present his movements to the player characters when they encounter him in a future role playing adventure.

Anyway, may you have a safe and wonderful New Year, and here's to 2021!

2021! Where's my jetpack they promised us all back in the 1950's?
