The Emperor Dalek

Terry Nation's Dalek Annual Emperor Dalek

I was able to buy a copy of the Terry Nation's Dalek annual 1978 on ebay recently. I used to have a copy of this when I was a kid. But I lost it over the years sadly.

The Emperor Dalek rises

I always liked the rendition of the Emperor Dalek from that issue and recently I wanted to make one for my own Imperial Dalek forces for the Doctor Who Miniatures Game (DWMG). But getting the right sized head was always the challenge for this little creation.

Fortunately I was able to find a $2 Soccer game where the soccer ball was just the right size. Using a Dalek from the Exterminate game I removed the upper torso & head and replaced this with the soccer ball. I then glued the eye stalk and several nodules from inside the ball itself (these nodules joined the two halves of the ball together) as "ear" lights on the dome of the Dalek head.

The superglue has left some vapour marks on the model, but painting it will fix that easily enough.

Now I need to find the right paints for this fellow and detail the base. But here he is, the Emperor Dalek for the Imperial Daleks.

ANZAC Day 2019

Dawn Service at our local RSL branch this morning brought home to me again the sacrifice of those who have kept us free and whom will never come home to their loved ones. Keep them in your prayers, always.

HAPPY EASTER!

2 Peter 1:16 (NIV)

16 For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

Hope eternal!! Have a wonderful Easter.

A Good Friday

This beautiful painting was made by a member of our church.

Isaiah 53:5 (NIV)

But he was pierced for our transgressions,

    he was crushed for our iniquities;

the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed.

1 Peter 2:24 (NIV)

24 “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”

May you have a wonderful, blessed and peaceful Easter!

Making Water Splashes for Victory at Sea

The Royal Navy undertakes gunnery practice at Scapa Flow

I wanted to make some water splashes to denote missed gunnery shops fired from warships for Victory at Sea. So I decided to use some old coins and base them with sand. Then paint them in the fashion I have been basing my warships. I then added small tufts of cotton wool and...Bob's your Uncle!

They work nicely for my 1/3000 scale warships and are pretty cheap to make.

The different sizes can be used to denote gunnery verses depth charge explosions or can just be used as a variety of gunnery explosions in the water.

The explosion markers are from Litko and will be used to denote actual hits on targets.
