Fallout Synth Courser

Tis the Season to be Jolly. Jolly busy that is! Work has been rather hectic leaving little time for painting. But I did manage to finish some minis for future roleplaying adventures. One is a Synth Courser for a future d20 homegrown ruleset for Fallout. The other is some Ghostbuster minis for our recent one-shot Ghostbusters (d20 home rules again) roleplaying game. The one-shot by the way has become a two-shot that I think is even going to end up taking three games sessions to finish. Oh well, the lads are having a blast, so that's all that counts.

Alright. That will do for now. I'll show off the Ghostbusters miniatures in a future post.

TRE Games Relaxing Dead Casualty Markers

 The Relaxing Dead

These charming fellows are from TRE Games and are The Relaxing Dead Casualty Markers.

I wanted some interesting casualty markers for Mars Attacks and Fallout tabletop games and my Fallout roleplaying group. The kind of markers that show that someone was ashed by a critical laser beam shot and these MDF markers were just the thing.

They are 28mm scale and a little on the fragile side. So be careful when you push them out of their frames. I had to glue some severed limbs back to bodies on a couple of these, as you can see from the photos below. But they are holding together well despite their little mishap.

I added dabs of PVA glue (White glue) and sand to a number of these markers to give a more 3-dimensional shape to the flat MDF cutouts. This then became the focus for making it look like glowing ash and charred remains.

One flash, and your ash!

The paint job was basic and so it's nothing to write home about. Just black primer spray and the sand painted a few shades of red to orange, and then a drybrush of grey over the whole model. They are casualty markers. No need to bust a gut doing an amazing paint job. Just get them on the table.

Bloodsuckers for Zona Alfa

These attractive beasties are Bloodsuckers from the excellent S.T.A.L.K.E.R. computer game series. Bloodsuckers are charming creatures with rather bad asthma who have a nasty habit of turning invisible when they sense prey, becoming visible only when they attack. Catch them napping though and you can gas the lot of them, so they no longer cause any problems.

These miniatures are from the excellent Patrick Miniatures where you can pick them up either from his store or via eBay.

Fun to play with.

Mind you, they are messy eaters.

And never wash their hands.

But who love a game of hide and seek.

Who's a pretty boy then?

This next brutish thing is some sort of chaos creature from Eureka Miniatures if memory serves me correctly. I decided to add a head to it and greenstuff it in place to make a brutal experiment gone wrong. Something to find in a dark, abandoned secret lab somewhere deep within the Zone.

I wonder what other nasties I can find to inflict on the STALKER teams within the Zone?

Mongrel Dogs for Fallout Wasteland Warfare and Zona Alfa

The Wasteland and the Zone are both full of mongrel dogs that pose an ever-present threat to Wastelanders and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'s alike. As such, I needed some feral dogs to go on the table. These are the Modiphius Fallout Wasteland Warfare Mongrel Dogs, a very nice set of miniatures.

So far, I have one box of these miniatures painted. I plan to do a second one to put a total of twelve miniatures onto the table.

Reaper Miniatures Terminators

I wanted some Fallout Institute Synth proxies to use in my roleplaying groups' home brewed Fallout d20 game. I'm not enamoured with the actual miniatures from Modiphius Games and so went looking for a more Terminator style of model. Reaper Miniatures make an excellent Terminator miniature and it's in metal, is cheaper and because its metal you can bend the arms to make slightly different poses to the standard four sculpts. I now have a bunch ready to threaten the player characters in an upcoming adventure.

I also wanted to surprise the players when they destroy the first few Synths. I will replace the complete model with one I have cut to make the crawling remains of the damaged Synth. So, this should cause a few shocks when they think they have defeated the first couple of Synths.

They're still coming! Eventually...

Nothing like having a grasping set of metal hands trying to crush your feet as your engaged in a shootout with a dangerous robot.

Hamlet gets upgraded

Hamlet (from Hasslefree Miniatures), just got some armour in preparation for venturing into the Zone.

Ready to rock in full camo body armour, along with the latest in NVG goggles, Hamlet is just itching to rip the throat out of those Snorks.

So whose still a good boy then?

"Little" Super Mutants for Fallout - Meet the Goblin Gang!

Meet the "Goblin Crew." These lads will be one of the gangs that my Fallout d20 roleplaying group will encounter in the future. In game, their background will be one where the FEV virus was modified to create a subservient worker class for the Enclave. A project the Enclave called the G.O.B.L.N. experiment.

The group's leader, 'Top Hat' orchestrated a daring mass escape of the G.O.B.L.N. experimental subjects. They took off through to old sewer network of pipes and escaped into the Commonwealth Wasteland, close to the Glowing Sea, and have been in hiding ever since.

Not necessarily as dangerous as their Super Mutant cousins, who would enslave them if they found them, they are naturally extremely cautious of anyone finding out that they exist and will shoot at anyone who approaches their hideout in order to scare them away.

Center in the photo above is Top Hat, their leader. To his right is Little John, the psychic and mystic of the group. What he lacks in stature, he more than makes up for with his mental abilities such as telepathy and telekinesis. To Top Hat's left is Red Eye, the groups ever vigilant scout and sniper.

Next we have on the left, Brambles with his pistol and whip made from mutated thorn vines. Uncle is in the middle. Finally, we have Droopy on the right.

Next, also from left to right, we have Wagstaff (Wagsy for short), Eeps in the middle, and Tripod whose right arm he uses more as a third leg given his malformed legs.

Finally, we have, again from left to right, Bo (and abbreviation of "Boom", a catchphrase he uses whenever he blows something to pieces), Cynders in the middle (who naturally likes to torch everything in sight), and Splats (short for Splatter) on the right. Splatter got his name from using his shotgun a little too well. He must have gained the "Bloody Mess" perk somehow during their escape from the secret Enclave lab.

And that's the team. So welcome to the Goblin Crew.
