Star Fleet Universe Champaine Map (Federation & Empire)

 

The full campaign map

Way in the distant past of this blog, I showed off the campaign map I had made for fighting battles in the Star Fleet Universe (using A Call To Arms and Starmada rule sets). I had used highlighters to colour the borders for each of the major empires. However, over time, those highlighters faded. Recently I decided to get some acrylic paints and repaint all the borders again. Voila! Good as new. So, I decided to show it off again. All the counters are from the Federation & Empire game from Amarillo Design Bureau.

I still have to make some counters for the Cardassian's, Ferengi and the Breen. But you can see Bajor and the Wormhole in hex's 3104 and 3204 above. Each hex is regarded as a Sector on the map. The Badlands can also be seen in sectors 3103, 3202 & 3203. The Ferengi Alliance is visible in purple around sector 3201.

Each counter represents either a ship or patrol group for purposes of the campaign, rather than being used as the Federation & Empire ruleset. But the map is also meant to be able to be played using Federation & Empire. There are a lot more counters to make. The whole thing is magnetic and so the counters have magnets on them as well. I have two sets of Federation & Empire for this purpose.

Kzinti Battle Squadron

The first battle squadron for my Kzinti's has finally been completed. These miniatures are 1:3788 scale and comprise and small task group of the Kzinti Hegemony.

The miniatures come from three sources, ADB (Amarillo Design Bureau's 2400 range), Babylon 5 Fleet Action (Agent One) scale miniatures and Firestorm Armada miniatures (Spartan Game's Relthoza).

A Kzin Battle Station, Base Station or "Listening Post."

The Spartan Games' Firestorm Armada miniature from their Relthoze range (sadly all now defunct) is actually a weapons platform from the planetary defence group. I turned in on its side in order to make a small base station for use by the Kzin. The main base itself will become a Kzinti Starbase.

The smaller ships are from the Babylon 5 Fleet Action series of miniatures. They come from the Minbari range and make very nice Escort sized vessel to support the Kzin.

Kzinti Light Cruiser 2400 (3788) scale

I just finished painting up some 2400 scale Amarillo Design Bureau Kzinti Light Cruisers. These are roughly 1:3788 scale.

I am still not happy with the rear hull of these ships and feel they might need some camouflage added as I have done to the primary hull. Still, I'm not sure what stripes to paint yet.

The underside of the ships haven't had any camouflage added either at this time. Finding the right strip scheme has alluded me so far.

In the image above you can see the 2500 scale Kzinti light cruiser next to the 2400 scale version. I have also placed the 2400 scale battle cruiser on the right for a scale comparison.

The picture above has a MicroMachines D7 placed next to the light cruiser. I've shown off how I have painted the Klingon D7 in a previous post. Green wash is the magic with the D7.

Anyway, these light cruisers can at least go on the gaming table now. But I do want to make the rear hull more interesting somehow.
