Tree-man for 10mm & 28mm by Eureka Miniatures

 This mighty dude is from Eureka Miniatures and is an 18mm Tree-man. As you can see from these images, he works well for both 10mm and 28mm.

There are three different sculpts, two of which are near identical. However, being metal, you can bend their limbs to provide a good variety of poses. This one is mounted on a 40mm base. Time to paint some more.

Elf Maiden by Dark Sword Miniatures

 

Stand and deliver!

Dark Sword make some very nice miniatures and this Elf Maiden is no exception. I wanted to find another miniature to be the avatar for one of my players' character for D&D. The miniature I was currently using wasn't the best sculpt.

I was trolling through Magister Militum's web page and found this beauty to add to the collection. Definitely going to get more Dark Sword miniatures. Great sculpts.

Water Elementalist for D&D, a Wizkids Elf Mage

This Wizkids Elven Mage has been painted to represent one of the player's characters who is a Water Elementalist.

The water spiral comes clear and was easily coloured by using blue ink. It was a pain the get the miniature out of between the spell spiral in order to do the painting, but now that its done, I'm glad I did remove it for painting. It would have been a real pain to otherwise.

Elf Druid Player Character

Elven Druid

This new blogger is taking some getting use to. Hard to find where all the buttons are that I used before.

Anyway, here's the latest in the painting up of player character miniatures for my role playing group. This one is an elven druid. The actual miniature is a Reaper Miniatures Elven King if I remember correctly.

The lighting isn't the best because its been pretty overcast today. But with the flash, you should be able to make out most of the painting detail.

Sybil from Massive Darkness/Zombicide boardgame

Here's an interesting observation. You would think that with the lock downs due to the pandemic, we all would have more spare time on our hands. Strangely I haven't found that that was the case. Why mention this? Well it just seems like I should have been cranking through my pile of pewter whilst in lock down and yet I have hardly achieved much in the way of painting.

One mini I have recently finished is 'Sybil' from Massive Darkness / Zombicide. This is a miniature being used by one of the players in our role playing group. Given the easing of lock down restrictions, we were finally able to get together to play after five months of isolation.

Anyway, Sybil is painted based on the character in the board game, but with one exception. She is painted as a Dark Elf from Skyrim in keeping with the player character from our D20 game.

Anyway, on with the painting. There's a few more player character's miniatures to get through so here's hoping I can knock some more out to show off. The blog has been a little bare of late.

Kings of War battle report... well sort of....

The good guy's

I have a stack of Lord of the Rings miniatures from various factions, namely Numenor, Elves of the Last Alliance, Dwarves, Goblins and Angmar / Mordor. I really love the models of the Last Alliance men and elves and also the Hobbit Dwarves. I also really like the Moria Goblins. And the LotR Trolls are fantastic as well. Mordor Orcs are pretty good also. These are really nice sets of miniatures.

The bad guy's

For some time now I have wanted to use them with the Kings of War rule set but I haven't wanted to rebase them. So how to solve my dilemma?

Trolling around on eBay I found some MDF movement trays that take 25mm round bases. These movement trays hold 10, 8 & 6 miniatures. Taking a punt, I bought a stack. I also have some War of the Ring cavalry movement trays for my Warg riders and cavalry. So far so good.

So how does this all translate to the table top using Kings of War (KoW)? Well, see for your self. The trays are bigger than the official bases for KoW, but given that both sides have the same movement tray base this isn't a problem.

Casualties can be tracked too by simply removing miniatures off the tray, like in many other game systems, without compromising the unit's footprint due to its movement tray. So the only drawback is that the movement trays don't match the official base sizes. Anyway, below are a lot of images of the battle. Unfortunately time constraints didn't permit it to be fully played out. Still it looked impressive enough to warrant its own blog post.
