Within the RobCo Vault - Fallout d20 rpg

My poor blog has been suffering from serious neglect over the last few months. Work and life have just kept things too busy to get some serious painting in. Consequently, I have a stack of unfinished paintjobs that needs my attention and no spare time to do them. As such, there's not much to show off on the blog.

So, I have decided to just start showing off the unfinished stuff anyway.

This post shows off the excellent BP Laser Corridor Set, which you can find here. This is a very cool and easy to build set of MDF terrain at a great price. I highly recommend it.

My rpg group have been playing my home-grown Fallout d20 game for a little while now and are really enjoying the mayhem. Below you can see where they finally ventured into the RobCo Vault under the ruined factory they explored the last time we were able to get play. Their mission was to find some robot schematics so that they could build more of a specialised robot type. They worked their way through some corridors and the odd auto turret before they came across the reactor room, which you can see below. I left the back wall off so that the players had a better view of things.

Unfortunately, they were surprised by four Security Bots that proceeded to shoot up the place. The PC's lost their Protectron very quickly as it was reduced to scrap before exploding, and they had to dive for cover.

Bullets then flew thick and fast, and a number hit the reactor causing it to start to leak radiation and to begin to suffer serious damage. The players soon realised that if this persisted there would be a rather nasty nuclear explosion. They were able to dispatch the last of the Security Bots and get out before things turned unliveable from the radiation leakage.

Continuing their search, they found the medical lab where they discovered dissected bodies and body parts scattered around the place. But what freaked the PC's out the most was the cyborg that was held in some kind of status chamber. They decided not to take any risks and placed a number of land mines around the door to the medical lab before the high tailed it out of there.

Finally, they ventured to the end of the facility where they found the control room. Here they encountered a number of Servitor Bots beavering away at consuls overwatched by two Hoverbots and a Brain-in-a-jar style Cyborg. The Cyborg was passing a report back to its leader via radio transmission announcing that the cybernation experiments on live humans was finally successful when the PC's arrived.

Cyborg wasn't happy with the intrusion and ordered his Servitor Bots to attack whilst he beat a hasty retreat with his two side-kick Hoverbots. Not waiting to ask questions, the lads opened fire and were met with electrical discharges from the Servitor Bots. More ducking for cover and return fire ensued.

"Deal with them, my minions, whilst I run away!"

"Kill. All. Intruders..."

"Exit, stage right! Actually, that's my left. Exit, stage left!"

A couple of grenades tossed into the control room eventually dealt with the Servitor Bots and the lads were able to find the one consul still functional after those explosions, retrieve the data, and escape via the Cyborg's secret exit hatch. And all before the reactor finally when boom. Timers are a real incentive to keep the players moving.

All in all, it was a simple, but fun, adventure.
